The P3000 was introduced 30 years ago to provide a power reserve for critical equipment or engine starting, by isolating non critical circuits at a set low battery voltage. A secondary benefit was improved battery life, as deep discharge levels are minimised if not alleviated.

The system can be supplied integral with a VSR charging system, providing a complete system in one unit, for more detail please refer to the Powercentre systems.

Why the priority to battery power reserve, simply that the battery’s primary purpose is to supply power to equipment connected to it. Some of the equipment has a more critical usage, such as vhf / radio communication, while a fridge, microwave, or certain lights are only convenient. By splitting the positive supply into primary and secondary circuits, non-essential equipment can be isolated, providing a reserve to maintain critical equipment pending battery recharge.

Some units that have come onto the market since the P3000’s introduction, operating on a simple low battery voltage, just isolate power to extend battery life. Which at first sight would seem a good idea, extend battery life save money, save cost. But if you are mid channel in bad weather, power maximisation is worth more than a little saved in battery cost. The same can be said for emergency service vehicles, having extended power for critical equipment can far out weight the little saved in extending battery life.

The bottom line, by controlling non-essential high load circuits, power can be maintained to critical circuits for longer, without excessive battery drain under normal operation. In this way heavy battery discharge levels are minimised, extending battery life, while still maintaining the systems primary function.

control system, from the simple to the complex the P3000 has a system, and all the options are interchangeable with the standard switching module, using only a 4 or 6 core data cable.

manual override is provided on the power lock-out relay, allowing the operator to manually override the system, providing emergency operation in both engaged and disengaged states.

basic remote control functions

bar-graph display, allows both battery discharge voltage, and system load amperage to be monitored, it will also indicate charge amperage and charge voltage.

digital display, provides display of volts or amperage for both discharge and charge, also included is a polarity indicator.

basic control mini, provides audio visual trip alarm, audio alarm mute, temporary power supply, 4 minute timed override.

micro-power consumption, 10mA with relay engaged.

integral circuit protection via 2 circuit breakers, provide protection to relay drive circuit, system electronics and remote control module and display. Dispensing with the need to supply and fit fuses during installation.

12 or 24 volt  operation, the system will operate with either supply voltage.

pre assembled  on a stainless steel mounting plate for easy installation. The system can be supplied in kit form, less mounting plate, for customer installation. We can supply the interconnecting control cable to the relay to a customised length. For production orders multi-pole connectors can be fitted, standard or waterproof.

adjustable voltage trip and reset levels, allows the system to be tuned to a particular installation requirements.

P3000  since it’s introduction in 1981, the system has always provided advance warning of low battery level. Over the years in-line with capacity increase, control and display functions have been improved to meet current operating environments.  Including the option of system volts and amperage, displayed on twin bar-graphs, or digital display. All current and voltage measurement is integral to the system, so does not involve additional installation time or cost.

interface cable between the display module and the control module, is either a 4 or 8 core cable depending on the system installed, and carries all volt, amp data and control functions. Normal connections are via screw terminal, but for production orders, we can supply systems with standard or waterproof multipole plug and socket connectors
