All Powercentre shunts measure the magnetic field around the electrical conductor, converting this to a suitable signal to drive the display.

This means that there is no physical connection, thus no need to cut cables to fit a shunt. As there is no resistance, there is no heat generation, and no overload worries, plus electronic shunts have an infinite overload capability.

The output signal can be conditioned to drive just about every meter option, and the battery voltage can also be picked up at the shunt. The volts and amps are then supplied to the display via a 3 core signal cable, allowing direct connection between source and display, minimising production time and maximizing through put.

The new range of shunts are designed to fit over the power cable, and drive the meter direct. The initial release will be suitable for cables up to 75 sq mm, a later extension to the range will cover cables up to 125 sq mm. Units are supplied to suit the chosen display, either from stock or set to suit for non standard meter types. The unit has the option to pick up battery voltage, both positive and negative values. These are then feed to the display head via an internal circuit breaker and a 3 core cable, volts, amps, common earth. Modules run from 12 or 24 volt  DC supply.

This is the original electronic current shunt we introduced in 1998, with over 3000 units now supplied. These are a two part module, a sense head that fits on an adaptor fitted to the battery terminal connector, and a driver head that fits by the meters. The driver head takes the signal from the shunt, and converts it to drive the selected display. This module can either supply two outputs to drive two different value meters from one shunt, or two meters from two shunts.

The shunt head has a pick up for battery volts, and this is feed up via an integral circuit breaker by the three core signal cable to the driver head. Modules run from a 12 or 24 volt DC supply.
